Drudkh is a Ukrainian black metal band that has become one of the most influential and enigmatic acts in the atmospheric black metal scene. It currently consists of Roman Saenko (of Hate Forest and formerly of Dark Ages), Thurios (former member of Astrofaes and Hate Forest), Krechet, and Vlad. The band's name is derived from the Sanskrit word for forest or tree, reflecting their deep connection to nature and ancient themes.

Their lyrics and artistic themes embrace Slavic mythology and Ukrainian nationalism, with many of the band's lyrics derived from the works of nineteenth and twentieth-century Ukrainian poets (Oleksandr Oles, Oleh Olzhych, Maik Yohansen, etc.) and especially Taras Shevchenko. This literary foundation gives their music a profound cultural and historical weight that distinguishes them from many other black metal acts.

Drudkh have been particularly secretive throughout the course of their career, even for a black metal band, giving no interviews and not releasing the lyrics to several of their albums. This mystique has only enhanced their reputation, as fans and critics have had to interpret their music primarily through the sonic experience rather than band statements or explanations.

The band's debut album Forgotten Legends was released on 18 August 2003 and establishes the band's trademark epic sound. Their follow-up, Autumn Aurora (2004), has frequently been cited as Drudkh's finest album and was chosen as the best album of the year by Chronicles of Chaos web-zine.

Drudkh has released eleven albums, two EPs, four splits, one single, and two compilations, establishing themselves as prolific creators of atmospheric black metal that blends Ukrainian folk elements with crushing metal arrangements. Their music serves as both artistic expression and cultural preservation, keeping Ukrainian poetry and nationalism alive through extreme music.
